CELEBRATING EARTH DAY AT HOME
Earth Day 2020 still falls on its annual April 22nd date, but that doesn’t stop it from feeling a little different this year.
It’s Earth Day, but most of our globe is socially distanced to slow the spread of the novel Coronavirus. Because many countries still face mandated lockdowns our Aurelia team has gathered several ways to make the most of celebrating at home.
EARTH DAY HISTORY
The year is 1970. In response to mounting environmental crises, twenty million people demanded change in the streets on April 22. This very first Earth Day is recognized as the planet’s largest civic event and helped spark the modern environmental movement that continues today.
Every year since, the Earth Day Network has pressed on to fight for our planet.
Climate action is 2020’s Earth Day theme.
And while the world may be at home, there are still plenty of ways we can commit to the theme and planet.

PARTICIPATE IN A DIGITAL EARTH DAY EVENT
The Earth Day Network is going digital in response to social distancing guidelines. Their website features an interactive map that can help locate events all across the globe. You can even filter event options by age group, language, event type and calendar dates.

COMPLETE A DO-IT-YOURSELF HOME ENERGY AUDIT

It’s not the Earth Day picnic you had planned, but in between Netflix shows, you could always research ways to switch electricity in your home. Local utility companies and governments offer incentives for renewable energy. Could Earth Day 2020 be the year you incorporate solar power or geothermal technology?
